Who we are
Kolar Construction started in 2016, when Jake Kolar stepped out on his own after a couple of years running crews as a foreman for a residential remodeler. He'd learned the trade the hard way — on the jobsite, framing walls and hanging trim — and he wanted to run projects the way he thought they should be run: honest estimates, tidy sites, and a phone that actually gets answered.
Ten years later that's still the whole idea. Kolar is a hands-on residential general contractor working out of Delano, and most of what we build is the stuff that changes how a family lives in their home — a new deck for the summers, an addition when the kids need more room, a basement that finally becomes usable square footage, a kitchen or bath brought up to date. Over the years the company has pulled permits on more than fifty projects, the majority of them home additions, and earned a spot in the top 8% of Minnesota's licensed contractors on BuildZoom.
The crew comes from all over — one member spent years in landscaping, another served eighteen years as a police officer in Shakopee, another is a Marine Corps veteran. Full and partial kitchen remodels — layout changes, cabinetry, countertops, and the framing or wall work behind them. We coordinate the trades so the project moves in order instead of stalling between crews.

As a licensed Minnesota building contractor (#731273), we pull the permits and schedule inspections so the project is done to code and on record. You get a realistic timeline up front, and we keep you posted if anything shifts.
